All of our instruments are pre-calibrated before they are shipped. An easy determination is to look at the bottom of your LCD screen (follow manual instructions for particular instrument) and see the L M H (Low, Medium, High calibration points) icons shown.
Customers have also asked us why the cap of their probe has liquid on it and if it was used before.
This is just residue from the KCL soaking which we do to every meter before sending out. So when you see the liquid, you should know your meter is hydrated and ready for testing.
However, we still recommend that you soak the pH meter for 5-10 minutes or overnight (for highest accuracy), and calibrate as first time use to ensure the best accuracy since there is a time gap between the date the product is manufactured and when you receive the product. The conductivity meter does not need to be soaked. Only calibration is needed.
